Matthew is a Geoscientist with expertise in Geology, Geophysics, Data Science, and Scientific Software Engineering.
He has over 25 years’ experience as a senior scientific advisor to the Australian Government, the United Nations and a number of International Standards Organisations.
Matthew has a proven track record in strategic and team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project and change management. He was instrumental in leading the development and publication of the first ever International Standards governing Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGS), initiating and driving the early development and innovation behind Digital Earth Australia and developing automated real-time monitoring systems for nuclear monitoring using global seismic networks.
Matthew is a co-chair of the Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGS) Standards Working Group, the Points of Interest Standards Working Group, and, the ISO/TC211 - OGC Joint Advisory Group at the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), where he facilitates the co-operation and information exchange between the numerous organisations to lead the development of key geospatial data standards.
